Recently, a roundtable forum on "Strategies and Paths of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area in Creating a Strategic Pivot Point for the New Development Pattern" was held at Jinan University, co-sponsored by the Guangzhou Federation of Social Sciences, Jinan University, and Hong Kong and Macao Studies, and hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area Economic Development Research Center, a key research base of humanities and social sciences of Guangzhou City.

Mr. Song Xianzhong, President of Jinan University, said that as a century-old overseas Chinese university, Jinan University will do its best to contribute to the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and play an active role in building the strategic pivot of the new development pattern. Experts and scholars from Beijing, Zhejiang, Guangdong and other places commented on the "Characteristics of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area as a Strategic Pivot in the New Development Pattern", "The Role of the Four Central Cities of the Greater Bay Area in Constructing the Strategic Pivot and the Path of Development",

Professor Yan Xiaopei, former full-time Vice Chairman of the Zhigong Party Central Committee, suggested promoting high-level collaborative development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through optimizing the industrial ecology, industrial spatial layout, and the construction of digital industrial clusters, and suggesting that Hong Kong should be integrated into the digitalization of industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, so as to promote the third transformation of the local economy and to increase new employment opportunities.

Xi Junjian, director of the Hong Kong and Macao Research Institute of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, said that the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, as a strategic pivot point of the new development pattern, has the advantages and characteristics to become a realistic basis. He suggested that through the rules of convergence mechanism docking to promote the integration of the Greater Bay Area market, accelerate the promotion of the construction of the international science and technology innovation center, as well as deepen the opening up to the outside world, to create a hub node of the double cycle, make full use of Hong Kong and Macao's strengths and status.

Wang Tinghui, president of the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences, put forward a proposal to support the new development pattern from seven aspects, including deepening openness, strengthening scientific and technological support, consolidating industrial support, expanding market support, pooling talents, reinforcing condition support and optimizing institutional support.

Experts from various sectors have also put forward proposals on maintaining and enhancing Hong Kong's status as an international economic center, expediting the development of digital economy and smart centers, promoting the development of cross-border e-commerce and digital trade, and building new growth poles.

Organized by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Economic Development Research Center, the forum aims to explore the strategies and paths for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to build a strategic pivot point in the new development pattern, and to inject new impetus into the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
