Bai Yansheng: The past is like smoke, everything is in the past. I do not want to complain, neither do I want to complain about the system, nor do I want to complain about some of the leaders, complain about the environment, from their own reasons. Maybe I think too much, if you let dry dry, not peace and quiet? On the surface, I resigned on my own initiative, but in fact it was forced. Bai Yansheng: Everyone's aspirations are different, and the biggest feeling I have when I came to HKTV is that it has given me great freedom. I am very grateful to Mr. Gao Hongxing, Chairman of the Board of Directors of HKTV, who is a banker and a financial expert, and we are in the2000I met him in 2007, and met him again by chance more than a decade later, during which time I talked about my state of mind and his investment in television before deciding to join.
When leaving that biggest fame and fortune, I realized that life is important. Leaving CCTV, I prefer to live in a different way, my family's life and my children's education are very important. Guo Jia: From CCTV to Hong Kong Satellite TV, the medium is the same but the platform is different and the concept is different, you once said that you couldn't see the future before, so over the past year, have you seen the future?
Bai Yansheng: Objectively speaking, HKTV cannot be compared with CCTV. What I value most is the way of life and work here. I don't want to say that Hong Kong TV is infinitely better because I have joined it. The problems here are no less than those in the original place, including the perspective of doing programs, the way capital operates, and so on, and all of them need to be adapted. But since I have joined, I will give it my best shot. Sometimes I can't sleep and there is pressure. I am an idealist, perfectionist, a bit obsessive-compulsive, no matter how hard the conditions are, since I do things, I have to do the best I can. As for the future and prospects, I don't think about it, sing as you go, as the saying goes, if you don't forget, there will be an echo.
Guo Jia: This year's"National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Congress"You hosted a current affairs talk show called "Yan Yan", which is very different from what you have been doing for many years, is this kind of program what you have always been interested in?
Bai Yansheng: Strictly speaking, it is the boss's trust in me. To tell the truth, there is no interest at all in this type of program, purely on duty to complete the task and do their duty.

Guo Jia: From "Yansheng Interview" to the current "Hong Kong Stories", different characters, same sense of historical depth and literati sentiment. Some people say "Hong Kong Stories" is about listening to positive men telling stories, what kind of program is it?
Bai Yansheng: Hong Kong Stories is a humanistic television program based on the perspective of the Freeport. The so-called free port perspective, as I understand it, is not left, not right, not biased, and a historian's style of writing. It is an interesting and informative way to look at the process of modern China from the perspective of Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Stories is currently running a series on classic characters, and we've chosen to feature political powerhouses Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Deng Xiaoping and Chiang Kai-shek in Hong Kong.1945In the years that followed, Zhang Junmai, Du Yuesheng, and Eileen Chang were among those who fled Hong Kong because of the politics of the city. There are also Hong Kong local elites such as Jin Yong, Ni Kuang, Li Ka Shing......Of course because of my preference for opera, Mei Lanfang, Meng Xiaodong, and the Red Thread Girl were also characters we dug deep into.
How do I get the best out of the30In order to present a flavorful story in minutes, our team has a consensus, not to say whatever is bizarre or eccentric, but to try to dig out the qualities of the chosen characters and say what others have not said. For example, when we did Jin Yong, we presented not the martial arts master, but the seldom-combed newspaper man, Louis Cha. Another example is Li Ka-shing, his wealth story is a household name, but few people, especially the mainland audience, know that he has all sorts of entanglements with Hong Kong, he"Winning wealth, but losing respect."The process of transmutation is the focus of our story.
Thank you for your comments on my positive energy man, what is positive energy? What is positive energy? Positive, aggressive, sunny and healthy is positive energy; but telling the truth in a fair and objective manner is even more positive energy. When I tell "Hong Kong Stories", I attach more importance to the latter point. Less talking about chicken soup slogans to encourage people, and more talking about real facts to inspire people to think, so that valuable positive energy will naturally grow out of people's hearts. I tell stories with reverence and take on the responsibility of cultural heritage, which is the conscience of a media.

Being able to be friends with a personality artist has nothing to do with who I am, it's the trust and love we have for each other over the years that brings us together!

Guo Jia: Returning to opera, how is it that several mavericks in the opera world, such as Pei Yanling and Zhang Huoding, have come to regard you as their confidant? Does it have anything to do with your special status of having one leg inside and one leg outside the circle?
Bai Yansheng: It is my honor to be a friend of such individual artists as Pei Yanling and Zhang Huoding. They are used to stay away from the media, unwilling to accept any interviews, obviously has nothing to do with what I am, it is our trust and love for each other over the years that brought us together and talk to each other without words.
Mr. Pei and I, an old man and a young man, had a tacit understanding, and whenever we met, we talked and sang opera. Once in the car on the way to a performance, we both sang "Qin Xianglian", "Butterfly Cup", and "Regulus", learning the cadences of old clappers such as Han Junqing, Jin Baohuan, and Yindazi, and singing in unison with each other in a joyful manner.

When she first left the Chinese Peking Opera, it was because she preferred not to be tied up and disturbed by too much worldliness, so she left. In her life, Huoding is very relaxed, laughing and talking about everything. We often talk on the phone about our children. Guo Jia: This year you have deliberately kept your distance from the opera world, is it a necessity of transition or do you have certain disapproval of the industry itself?
Bai Yansheng: For many years, I stick to the pear garden lonely struggle, is looking forward to one day the theater storm clouds roll; Unfortunately, this place does not need the storm clouds figure. I'm a man of few words, and there are some things that no one can change, so I chose to leave. But how could I end up with the theater??I just left the opera channel, I have never been estranged from the opera, it is in my blood and bone marrow. A month ago, I met the boss of a media, we met for the first time, there was no previous interactions, his first words when he met me: Yan Sheng, do not do anything related to the theater, you are not doing your job. Since then, we have become friends without words.

My turnaround was not as flashy and bright as my friends expected and wished for.
