As an enthusiast of the Chinese martial arts, I have come to know some foreigners who are very serious about their Kung Fu studies. Recently, I came across a series of books called "Precision Wing Chun" by Greg Tupper, an American Wing Chun master. The first volume of this series is a regular printed book called Flip Book ("Precision Wing Chun's Little Thoughts"), and the rest of the books are iBooks, i.e., Volume 2: "Finding the Bridge", and the newest one, Volume 3: "Sticking Arms in Combat" ("Sticky Hands").bird-lime"It is an exercise in tactile response and improvisation of the hands in attack and defense fighting, and is therefore the key to the introduction of Wing Chun to the dialectical theory of close combat, "no move is better than a move", which is the key to winning in a quick fight."). Master Duguay uses 3D computerized techniques. Master Duguay's use of 3D computer animation to analyze the profoundness of Wing Chun is incredible. I was surprised that a Westerner had such great insight into Wing Chun. For example, I noticed that Sifu Duguilli's boxing routine (Seek the Bridge) is more rich in movement expression than the current Wing Chun training in Hong Kong. Therefore I decided to visit Sifu Duguly in the hope of learning more about him and his Wing Chun.
Master Duguay's house is perched on a hill that overlooks the entire San Francisco Peninsula. When I visited him in person, I could feel the greatness of Master Duglie. He is now 66 years old, yet he is still very flexible and agile. As a student of Wing Chun, I tried to spar with him using "Chi Sau". I found that his hands were soft, he did not confront you, and he often attacked me in a position you did not expect. He described his technique as "glue potting and spirit rush", which I understood to be like a needle in cotton. In addition to Wing Chun, Master Duguay also captained the local ice hockey team for ten years and fostered an active lifestyle. However, he was a low-key man and his writings are not accompanied by his personal photograph.

Journalist:Master Duguay, thank you for this interview. Can you tell us how and when you became interested in martial arts and why you chose Wing Chun?
Duguay:I should say that I have been studying martial arts for over forty years and this interest has been a central part of my life.
I've been practicing Aikido for eight years.(Hapkido)Tae Kwon Do(Tae Kwon Do)Jiu-Jitsu(Ju Jitsu)Judo(Judo)Aikido, Japan(Aikido)Karate(Kenpo karate)And wrestling in college.(college wrestling)It wasn't until later that I discovered Wing Chun. Although I taught Aikido for a few years, once I was introduced to Wing Chun, I decided to devote myself wholeheartedly to the world of Wing Chun.
I remember in my first lesson in Wing Chun, I began to understand what the center line was and how to punch through that center. It didn't take long for me to realize that I could defeat my opponent by grabbing the center line and forcing his punches away afterward. This single technique was already more practical than any other martial art I had learned before. The truth is that Wing Chun centerline strikes pack more of a punch than any other martial arts technique, and I also discovered that Wing Chun also offers a kick, which is probably the most direct attack on the human body. I have also discovered that Wing Chun's in-and-out horse-boots are the most powerful and direct footwork. And I found that Wing Chun is the most basic and direct wrestling martial art. I could go on and on about the superiority of Wing Chun training.
In the early '70s, a lot of people had Bruce Lee disease.(Bruce Lee Disease), the label is no disrespect. Back in the day, Bruce Lee and his two old Wing Chun brothers (Wong Shun Leung and William Cheung Cheuk Hing) used to challenge other martial arts schools. Since I was the eldest disciple, when our martial arts school was challenged, it was usually me and my senior brothers who defended our school to repel the challengers. So my extensive real-world experience is also due to dozens of real-life fights to hone my skills.
Journalist:Which Wing Chun school do you belong to?
Duguay:I am glad that I chose the right place at the right time: Ip Man - Wong Shun Leung - my master - Duguay Lee(me)The
My master instructed me not to mention his name in my book. Of course, I respect his right to privacy.
I strongly believe that too many people follow and learn from too many unnecessary things while paying attention to too little actual knowledge and fundamentals. One of the unique values of the Wing Chun training system is that it is based on the300Ten thousand years of evolution a natural human response. Nothing in Wing Chun is artificially done.
Wing Chun has a very organized body of knowledge and most of the older Wing Chun masters have this backbone foundation. However, Wing Chun is also separated into different schools, each with their own distinctive characteristics The
I wrote the "Precision Wing Chun" series of books because I wanted to preserve this ancient knowledge, although much of it has been lost. At the same time, I am proud of my Wing Chun style and hope that my books will inspire you on a deeper level.
Journalist:In your book, the Wing Chun system you refer to is "Precision Wing Chun", right? Can you tell us more about this?
Duguay:"Precision Wing Chun" is a program using the3DGraphics to learn traditional Wing Chun.
The first set of movements is illustrated with a modeling figure. We use a modeling figure to demonstrate Wing Chun concepts because she can be digitally positioned. All the joints of the modeling figure can be positioned in a single unit containing X(math.) genusY(math.) genusZThree-dimensional coordinates defined in virtual space are accurately localized. That is, each joint is represented by three numbers that represent the precise position in space. For each pose in the set, the relationship between those points changes. Understanding3DThe knowledge base of the illustrations is beyond the scope of this book. All you need to know is that the book provides a precise orientation that will help you fill in the gaps in your knowledge about traditional Wing Chun training methods.
My master taught me using a similar method, starting the first set with the center between the feet at a point on the ground. He trained me to keep my center of gravity directly above. Sifu taught Wing Chun in the last70era, when there was no3Dof technology.
journalists: Thank you for letting us know that practicing Wing Chun precisely3Dconstruction, I wonder if I could learn more about the function of this and what the benefits are?
Duguay:Traditionally Wing Chun is taught by a student following his Sifu to imitate his movements and techniques. However, everyone has different height, weight, build, structure, and dexterity, and the Sifu's teaching may not be tailored to the student's needs.
Although the masters are experts in the techniques, they may also have some structural deficiencies due to their own size and habits. Precision Wing Chun requires the full integration of personal factors in the learning process, requiring the student to have precise and perfect movements and to create their own patterns.
The first level is about building your combat units, little thoughts(Sil Lim Tao)have altogether108Transformation of styles. When you perform the movements of traditional Wing Chun, the exact positioning of your bones remains the same. But your center of gravity line must remain stable and immobile.
The second level is about the conversion and enhancement of this mobile combat unit. Finding the bridge.(Chum Kiu)Studying how to set up your line of attack as the center of gravity line moves cuts down on unnecessary movement and smartly uses power.
The third level shows how to master the necessary methods to control the force. Chi Sau(Chi Sau)This book in the3DThe graphic video lets you see how the force (depicted as a green bar) changes and gives you a real feel for using the force.
Journalist:How to combine today's hot trends such as mixed martial arts with practical Wing Chun (MMAOr is it "mixed martial arts"?
Duguay:In addition to Wing Chun, I also spent eight years learning other martial arts, which are commonly referred to as "mixed martial arts". In true self-defense, you want to be able to see and hear everything, and guard against ambushes from second attackers, such as guns, knives, and other special terrain.
You may not care about winning, but you must safeguard your life. My Sifu once said, "It is important to realize that there is a difference between how we learn martial arts and how other people learn martial arts, and that we can only really appreciate what this is all about when we have been beaten up before." If you want to increase your chances of surviving a violent street confrontation, learning Wing Chun is the right choice.
Journalist:What are your future plans?
Duguay:At the moment, I have only written about the first three accuracy levels of Wing Chun. Even so, when you finish reading this series, I believe you will be amazed at the vastness of Wing Chun in addition to the progress you will make in your study of Wing Chun. In the future, I will continue to add other levels of Wing Chun knowledge to this foundation.
