But regardless of the channel, many Southeast Asian women are motivated by\"<\/span>Lifting People Out of Poverty and Helping Them Prosper\"<\/span>(used form a nominal expression)\"<\/span>Motivation\"<\/span>Who left for a distant land and eventually fled\"<\/span>Results\"<\/span>It\u2019s just that dreams and reality are too far apart. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe gender imbalance in China has indirectly led to women in underdeveloped regions being trafficked into\"<\/span>sino\"<\/span>The bride\u2019s crime, but by no means the main cause. \n\tAccording to statistics from the Immigration and Foreigners Policy Headquarters of South Korea\u2019s Ministry of Justice,2014<\/span>The number of marriage immigrants to South Korea reached15.0865<\/span>10,000 people; of these, in terms of gender among those who immigrated through marriage, women account for85.4%<\/span>, and in terms of the nationalities of marriage-based immigrants, Chinese nationals make up the largest group, numbering6.24<\/span>10,000 people. This news has sparked heated discussion among South Korean netizens, with some comments suggesting that South Korea should adopt a policy of polygamy for foreign nationals, since there really aren\u2019t enough men left in South Korea to marry foreign women. Among well-known Chinese actresses, Tang Wei, Xu Ruyun, and Qi Wei have all married South Korean men, and the popular leading lady Liu Yifei is currently in a passionate relationship with a South Korean man.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tLooking at the situation in Asia, the fundamental reason why women in underdeveloped regions yearn to choose a more comfortable place to live is the underdevelopment of their national economies and certain severe social conflicts. For example, Vietnam has a large surplus of women relative to men, resulting in a gender imbalance, and the country is poor and underdeveloped; in Japan, where patriarchy is deeply entrenched, women face sociocultural constraints and yearn for a relatively equitable social status and greater freedom; meanwhile, the majority of Chinese women who marry abroad do so only temporarily.\"<\/span>Trends\"<\/span>...Most Chinese women who have the opportunity to meet foreign men and possess the means to sustain such relationships are not constrained by a lack of social resources; rather, they often view marrying a foreign husband as a trend that greatly satisfies their personal vanity. In any case, a significant proportion of Asian women tend to marry men from more developed regions, and the ongoing exodus of Asian women has become an objective reality. There\u2019s a joke that goes like this: Two Chinese people get into a car at the same time. Three hours later, the Chinese man in Beijing hasn\u2019t even left Chaoyang District, while the Chinese person in Europe has already crossed into two different countries. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough many European countries have their own languages, the official language\"<\/span>English\"<\/span>Romantic relationships are extremely widespread, and because national social safety nets are relatively well-developed, material considerations play a less significant role in romantic relationships between men and women. Furthermore, there is no situation where the number of women leaving the country exceeds the number entering, so other motivations for marriage are significantly reduced. However, when it comes to cross-border relationships involving Asian women, it is clear that the purpose of marriage is not simply about love. Although there are no official statistics, factors such as education, social security, healthcare, and relatively equitable women\u2019s rights all serve as positive factors in cross-border relationships. From a different perspective\u2014that of women\u2019s physiology\u2014men from developed regions, who tend to be physically healthier, dress fashionably, and have progressive mindsets, are more likely to attract women. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAn international relationship is full of novelty for two people who have lived apart since childhood; cultural differences and physical distinctions often serve as points of mutual attraction at first. But reality isn\u2019t quite so rosy. Regardless of whether there are factors beyond love at play, we can see that many international relationships\u2014particularly those between Asia and Europe\u2014don\u2019t turn out very well. According to an analysis of Japanese data, every year in Japan there are2<\/span>There are tens of thousands of international couples, but the number of those who divorce within a year is as high as1<\/span>ten thousand5198<\/span>That\u2019s right\u2014more than 70 percent of all marriages. Many Japanese women complain that it is difficult to adapt to life and culture in other countries, and they feel that life abroad is not as wonderful as they had imagined. \n\tIn reality, international relationships aren\u2019t much different from ordinary ones, but women often project excessive fantasies and overly idealistic expectations onto them. This creates a stark disconnect from reality, leading to a higher marriage rate compared to ordinary romantic relationships. Alternatively, their material needs may not be met; it has become commonplace for Vietnamese, Burmese, and Cambodian women who marry Chinese men to flee. This is because women from less developed countries often find it difficult to marry men who meet the average standard of living in a more developed country. Many Southeast Asian women come to China to marry in rural areas of remote regions, where living conditions may not be much better than in their hometowns; combined with cultural and language barriers, this further accelerates the divorce process. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to a report in the UK Chinese Business News,2011<\/span>According to annual statistics from the UK Home Office\u2019s Border Agency, British men who married Chinese women over the past five years had an average annual income of 14,000 pounds, while according to2012<\/span>The annual income for recent college graduates in the United Kingdom is2<\/span>Compared to 10,000 pounds, the former certainly falls into the low-income bracket. Among the Chinese female friends I know who are in relationships with foreign men, their foreign boyfriends fall short of the average level in China in terms of both education and income. To put it somewhat dramatically, a Chinese woman divorcing a low-income British man is comparable to a Burmese womanEscape<\/b>There isn't much difference in rural China. We don't deny that the welfare systems in Western societies are superior to ours, but many of these benefits are provided to\"<\/span>Households Receiving Minimum Living Allowance\"<\/span>Indeed, it is clear that Chinese women are unwilling to live a life relying solely on the basic social safety net provided by society.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBut even with these stark statistics staring us in the face, the massive exodus of Asian brides continues unabated, and the numbers are still rising every year. Whether they are heading to other Asian countries or to Europe and the United States\u2014where human rights and freedom are cherished\u2014resenting life in their home countries has become a psychological norm among Asian women. One of the most compelling examples is that the majority of children from Asia\u2019s upper classes are willing to choose a life abroad; if economic factors were not a concern for the general population, this ratio would likely increase tenfold. This reflects both the powerful cultural influence of the West and the generally underdeveloped state of Asian societies. Undoubtedly, this represents a regrettable reality for human development. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\n<\/p>\n

\n\tCross-cultural relationships are a form of free love, and no one should pass extreme judgment on them. I simply hope that Asian brides will be more cautious when choosing a marriage partner and try to avoid mixing in motives other than love; otherwise, they may face a huge shock from the resulting sense of disillusionment. Cross-cultural relationships involve more challenges and difficulties than domestic ones, so please help make these relationships more rational and stable, and resist following trends blindly.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
