Adolf Hitler was a fervent believer in supernatural powers, and many of his actions revealed a supernatural and metaphysical trajectory.Twice, in 1938 and 1943, Hitler's aide, Himmler, sent his men deep into Tibet...what were they looking for in Tibet?
Mysterious Continent of Atlantis
The famous ancient Greek philosopher Plato, in the "Critias and" and "Timaeus" two dialogues, the first mention of a mysterious continent has disappeared "Atlantis". Since then, the legend of Atlantis has endured on the European continent. Legend has it that Atlantis was founded by Poseidon, the god of the sea, and that this continent, which was ruled by the gods, was rich and had superb science and technology: "It had well-equipped harbors and ships, as well as objects capable of carrying people in flight." However, this super-developed continent sank to the bottom of the sea about 12,000 years ago due to a natural disaster.
There are many different opinions about where the descendants of the Atlanteans went. And Hitler believed that a portion of the Atlanteans escaped in ships, landed in the Himalayas, and, eventually, became the ancestors of the Aryans.
If readers are familiar with the history of World War II, they will remember the infamous "Germanic racial superiority theory" of the Second World War. Hitler considered himself to be of "noble" Aryan blood, and even wrote "Mein Kampf", treating the Germans as the descendants of the Aryans, the legendary race of people who had created an extraordinary culture, and even emphasizing that the Germans were the descendants of the gods. In order to prove the truth of the Atlantean legend and the transcendence of his own lineage, Hitler sent people around to seek proof, and even Tibet, far to the east, was included in his plans.
Why was Tibet, so far away, in Hitler's sights?
As mentioned earlier, the Himalaya is where the Atlanteans landed. In Hitler's time, after the large-scale "exploration", the map of the globe had been clearly drawn by the Europeans, and only a few areas that had not yet been set foot by the Europeans were left blank on the map, Tibet being one of them. Unknown and mysterious, the early European explorers only brought back a few words about Tibet, which were seriously misinterpreted and mythologized, making Tibet a utopia and a land of the gods in the eyes of the Germans. The people who live here, in all likelihood, have some important connection to the Atlanteans who landed here.
Hoping to find a link between the eastern and western races in Tibet through modern scientific means, Hitler authorized his confidant, Nazi SS chief Heinrich Himmler, to set up an expedition to Tibet to explore the mystery. Despite the absurdity of such a thing to many modern eyes, history really did happen just like that.

Atlantis: also known as the Great Western Continent, a highly civilized continent sunk to the bottom of the sea in European legend. This legend has attracted many people to embark on a journey to find its remains. Regarding its exact location, there are Cretan theory, Antarctic theory, Irish theory and so on. And in recent decades of archaeological discoveries, huge underwater pyramids and other remains have been found on the seabed of the Atlantic Ocean, which some people believe to be those left by Atlantis.
Himmler's Expedition
Himmler was a racist fanatic, an occultist, and the Nazi SS, which he personally created, was the product of his taking this ideology to the extreme. After a long gestation period, in 1938 and 1943, Himmler himself concocted two expeditions to Tibet, which have come to be known as Himmler's Expeditions.
In 1935, Himmler founded an organization called the "Society for Research and Teaching on the Ancestral Heritage of Germany". The organization had 46 departments with comprehensive fields of research, including zoology, botany, archaeology, meteorology, history and anthropology, and had its own publishing house to publish its findings. In addition to attracting ambitious young scientists, the organization also drew in a lot of eccentrics. For example, his personal advisor, Carl Maria Villigut. This man, who claimed to be the last in a long line of German saints, was engaged in the study of Satanism, astrology, theurgy, divination, alchemy, and witchcraft ref. Science, superstition, and religion ...... thus coexist in the Ancestral Heritage organization with a common end goal: to trace the mysterious past of the Aryans, to discover their roots, and to prove why they are a superior race of people. (The motto of Ancestral Heritage is that a people can live happily now and in the future if they are conscious of their past and the greatness of their ancestors.)
Schaeffer's Expedition
In 1938, Himmler was ordered to form a five-man expedition to Tibet, the "German SS Schaeffer Expedition". The expedition was headed by Ernst Schaeffer, a young naturalist; the other members were Bruno Berger, an anthropologist; Ernst Krause, a botanist and entomologist as well as the official photographer; Karl Winet, a geographer specializing in the geomagnetism of the earth; and Edmund Gell, the administrator of the expedition. From the composition of the expedition, it is clear that Himmler hoped to conduct a geographically, biologically, humanistically, and ethnically comprehensive study of Tibet, a mysterious region that was still marked with many gaps on the maps of the time. A grant from the "Ancestral Legacy" became the source of funding for the expedition.
Among the "trophies" of this expedition, discovered by later generations, are a series of precise measurements taken by Begel with calipers, based on the head and facial features of the human being, for the purpose of comparing and contrasting body types. He even resorted to eye color charts and hair samples to help him accurately distinguish between racial types and racial purity. Of course, plaster face molds of the natives were essential. They took with them a variety of ancient artifacts, a large number of samples of plants and animals, geomagnetic data, and human customs were also recorded in books.
In August 1939, after a year's experience, the expedition brought back a large amount of "expedition" information. The expedition brought back a large amount of "expedition" data and made a documentary film "Mysterious Tibet" with the film footage. The members of the expedition were warmly welcomed as triumphant heroes. The Germanic racial superiority theory seemed to be "confirmed" by the information they brought back. The members of the expedition were also richly rewarded. In addition to this, the Schaeffer expedition brought Himmler an unexpected "surprise".
"Shamballa" Earth axis
In 1939, the Schaeffer Expedition brought back an unheard of piece of information to Himmler. The team had discovered a place called "Shambala" in Tibet. "Shambala" was rumored to be the center of the Earth's axis, where people could travel through time and space, and where those who entered could gain extraordinary powers and live forever. ...... Such a science-fiction sounding place was carefully documented by the Schaeffel Expedition, and they even mapped it. They even drew a map of the area and labeled the location. Himmler was encouraged by this information. That year they made plans for a new expedition, preparing to send 30 officers and 1,000 to 2,000 armed men into Tibet.
In the middle and late stages of World War II, Germany was losing the battlefield, and the war with the Soviet Union was costing the German army a lot of money. Himmler submitted a 2,000-page report to Hitler, hoping to find the "Shamballa", the axis of the Earth, to create an "immortal army", and travel through time and space, to change the losing situation. It was against this backdrop of war that Heinrich Haller, a professional mountaineer by birth, led a five-man expedition from Berlin in January 1943 to begin a new round of long-planned expeditions to Tibet.
However, Halle was not as lucky as his predecessors; in May 1943, Halle and his party, who had not yet officially entered Tibet, were arrested by the British in India. After many attempts, in 1944, Halle and his companions escaped from prison, posing as a German salesman, fleeing all the way to Tibet, began their five-year-long in Tibet, looking around the "Shambala" wandering life. Until a chance encounter with an Indian businessman, they realized that Germany has long surrendered, the end of the war news.
The movements of Haller's expedition during the intervening years remain a mystery to this day. The only members of the expedition left were Halle himself and Himmler's confidant, Peter Aufschneider, while the whereabouts of the other three members are unknown except to the two of them. Halle had published his memoirs of his time in Tibet and flatly denied his relationship with Himmler.
Some of the Nazi Third Reich's archives won't be declassified until 2044, and some of the highly classified archives will be kept secret even longer, including information about Halle's current expedition to Tibet. That means we'll have to wait half a century before we really know the truth about what happened.
