Reported by Huang Xiaole, a reporter for this magazine On January 16, the kickoff ceremony for Season 5 of the “Yuan Plan—Perfect Holiday” program, organized by the China Next Generation Education Foundation and sponsored by LG, was held at the Beijing Youth Political College.This is the fifth batch of the program, which organizes 1,000 college students to return to their hometowns during winter and summer breaks to carry out large-scale public welfare activities—such as providing one-on-one assistance and conducting surveys for impoverished left-behind children—based on family ties and proximity.
A total of 1,000 college student volunteers from 48 universities, including Tsinghua University and Peking University, participated in this season’s event and received their “Warmth Kits” on-site. During the winter break, they will return to their hometowns and visit the homes of local residents to provide one-on-one assistance to 3,000 impoverished left-behind children in their hometowns, helping the children stay warm through the winter and enjoy a happy Lunar New Year.
Internationally renowned director Tang Jili, Hong Kong Satellite TV’s famous host Qin Feng, singer Zheng Jun, and actors Huang Bo, Wang Ou, Chen Xiao, Bu Yixian, Xu Qianqian, Ju Hao, Hou Yaohua, and other celebrities have all sent video messages expressing their support and best wishes.
Wang Ping, Chairperson and Secretary-General of the China Next Generation Education Foundation; Kwon Yong-min, President of LG Group China—the corporate sponsor that has supported the program for six consecutive seasons; representatives from various charitable enterprises and media outlets; and over 1,000 attendees, including leaders from the Communist Youth League in ten provinces and the Youth League committees of 48 universities, attended the launch ceremony.
To this end, CCTV’s “Moral Observation” produced two special episodes, which are scheduled to air on CCTV-12 at 9:40 p.m. on the 17th and 18th, to recognize and support this initiative.
