On November 23, the 7th Shenzhen International Art Fair officially kicked off in Hall 8 of the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. Renowned artists from China and abroad—including Zhou Chunya, Fang Lijun, Ye Yongqing, Zao Wou-Ki, Lin Shouyu, Dalí, He Duoling, Luo Zhongli, Markus Lüpertz, Daido Moriyama, and Nobuyoshi Araki were all on display. Additionally, “Frog King” Guo Menghao, August Vilella of the Spanish National Arts Association, British artist John Dean, and many other artists were in attendance.
 

     This year’s art fair not only brings together a stellar lineup of artists and a wealth of masterpieces, but has also received strong support from local galleries and art institutions in Shenzhen. Additionally, it has invited dozens of galleries and art institutions from countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Australia, Spain, and Ukraine, making it more international than ever before. Bringing together thousands of outstanding works—including oil paintings, ink wash paintings, prints, sculptures, photography, calligraphy, public installations, and multimedia art—the fair has established its unique character. Among them, in addition to installation works by young artists Liao Binbin and Huang Cheng, there is the large-scale conical sculpture installation *Rebirth*, which uses fragments of trees left behind after the devastation caused by Super Typhoon No. 22 “Mangkhut” as raw materials, infusing them with new emotion and artistic wisdom. which will make its debut at the Shenzhen Art Fair from the 23rd to the 26th. This piece embodies the inclusivity, wisdom, energy, and warmth that are uniquely characteristic of the city of Shenzhen.

     Founded in 2012, the Shenzhen International Art Fair has spent the past seven years forging ahead with determination and a spirit of continuous improvement—a period marked by efforts to guide the local art market externally while engaging in self-reflection and refinement internally.

     The 2018 Shenzhen International Art Fair featured four main sections: Gallery Panorama, Public Art Zone, Art Crossover, and Themed Exhibitions; These included three themed exhibitions—“Art Collection Space” (featuring recommended works by renowned artists), “Art Wild Young Talents” (a showcase of young artists), and “Art·Home—Solo Lu”—as well as one special project, the “China Art Agent Nomination Exhibition.”

     This is a vibrant arts district and a platform for expression that is both bold and heartfelt. Renowned artists, curators, critics, and economic advisors from both China and abroad will gather here to guide visitors in understanding and engaging with art, sharing their insights on art appreciation, collecting, and investment with the public. In addition, this professional academic forum—titled the “China Art Dealers Nomination Exhibition”—will pioneer a new model that integrates academic discourse with the art market at the art fair.

     Starting in 2016, based on comprehensive observations and analysis, and drawing on the experiences of leading international art fairs, the Shenzhen International Art Fair shifted its focus toward art consumption. The fair implemented strict standards regarding the categories and pricing of artworks, while also introducing the concept of “Art·Home” to bridge the gap between art—which has traditionally been perceived as aloof—and everyday life. Given the enthusiastic and positive response and attention received by the special Young Artists“ Thematic Exhibition at the previous edition, the 2018 Shenzhen International Art Fair introduced ”Art Wild, Young Harvest” to continue this young artists’ showcase. Focusing on the current creative environment for young artists, the fair aims to further discover high-quality artworks that embody the artistic spirit of the new era, as well as outstanding art institutions and artists, providing them with more opportunities and platforms for exhibition. It aims to truly fulfill the mission of revitalizing the art market and build broader bridges and stages for artists and collectors of all kinds.

     With greater confidence, a clearer focus, more professional services, and a more mature operational model, the 2018 Shenzhen International Art Fair seamlessly blends art with design, art with daily life, and art with home decor. It offers a spectacular, high-end visual arts extravaganza to cap off 2018.
