Nearly 200 people attended the event, including Researcher Chen Jian, Executive Director of the Boao International Wellness Forum; Secretary-General Liang Zejin; members of the Summer Summit Organizing Committee; as well as leaders from relevant departments in the health and wellness sector, representatives from industry associations, entrepreneurs, and media representatives.
The meeting was chaired by Xiong Yunhua, Executive Secretary-General of the Boao International Wellness Forum. Liu Yashu and Zhang Tao, Executive Chairs of the Summer Summit, respectively provided updates on the summit’s preparations, the China Health Development Conference, and the parallel forums. Chen Jian, Executive Director of the Boao International Wellness Forum, gave a detailed briefing on the forum and the Summer Summit.
The Boao International Wellness Forum is an international exchange platform established with the approval of relevant national authorities, with the objectives of “academic exchange, policy interpretation, industry collaboration, and showcasing achievements.” Since its inception in 2015, it has received strong support from the Hainan Provincial Health Commission, the Hainan Provincial Department of Commerce, the Hainan Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Qionghai Municipal People’s Government, the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and other organizations. With the goal of being based in Boao, extending its reach nationwide, and influencing the world, the forum explores cutting-edge academic developments in the wellness and health industry, identifies the direction of the industry’s development, and focuses on facilitating industry collaboration and implementation. After several years of effort, it has now become an international brand with widespread influence in the global wellness and health sector.
The Boao International Wellness Forum Summer Summit and China Health Industry Development Conference is scheduled to take place in Chengdu from June 27 to 30, 2019, with approximately 2,000 participants expected to attend. The summit is jointly organized by the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the China Wellness Industry Brand Alliance, the China Pharmaceutical Materials Association, and the editorial office of the journal *Management of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Health Care*. The forum’s organizing committee is chaired by Tian Xueyuan, a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and a renowned economist, who serves as chief advisor. Zhang Danning, a Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine and President of the China Association for the Promotion of Traditional Chinese Medicine Research, serves as Chief Expert; Liu Zhanglin, Executive Vice President of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Chen Jian, Vice President of the China Society for Economic System Reform, serve as Executive Directors.
This summit features one main forum and ten sub-forums, focusing on discussions regarding the scope and implications of the health industry, its development pathways, the evolution of industry standards and business models, and strategic planning. Through a variety of formats—including keynote speeches, high-level dialogues, breakout sessions, study tours, brand awards, essay contests, skills competitions, a Public Health Awareness Week, and a Wellness Culture Festival—the event aims to: the summit will interpret policies related to the comprehensive health industry, promote the integrated convergence of the entire industry chain, foster exchange and cooperation among government, industry, academia, and research sectors, shape and promote Chengdu’s image as a hub for the comprehensive health industry, and pragmatically advance the progress and development of Chengdu’s comprehensive health industry.
