Okinawa Chinese Music Festival 2023 Coming Soon

The Okinawa Chinese Music Festival 2023 will be held soon and will present the rolling history of friendly exchanges between China and Japan. This festival has a special significance, as this year it coincides with the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between China and Japan, and the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Okinawa Overseas Chinese Association of Japan.

Participating in the festival will be Okinawan music giant Shokichi Kina, a giant of Japanese Okinawan pop music whose composition "Flowers" is popular worldwide. He will be performing a number of classic Chinese and Japanese music pieces with his own band and Chinese artists on the evening of October 5, aiming to fill everyone's heart with flowers, symbolizing the blossoming of Sino-Japanese friendship and goodwill.

Meanwhile, Junko Koshika, the main character of the Japanese TV series "Volleyball Girl" broadcast in 1982, will also sing for the first time in Okinawa. Junko Koga, whose strong and indomitable personality and never-say-die spirit have stayed deep in the hearts of Chinese viewers, will sing the theme song of "Volleyball Girls" as well as a Japanese version of the Chinese pop song "When You're Old", which she sang in collaboration with her good friend Xie Ming.

In addition, Peking Opera artist Wu Rujun will also perform at the festival. Wu Rujun is known as "Little Mei Lanfang" and "Asia's First Male Dan", and he has created and starred in many Wu's new Peking Operas on the stage of Sino-Japanese art exchanges. Over the past decades, he has used Peking Opera and Jinghu to demonstrate the vastness and charm of Chinese culture, and sung Peking Opera and Peking Rhythm to echo the friendship between China and Japan.
